About Dr. Joey Pitts

Dr. Joseph M. Pitts earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at the University of Georgia, graduating Summa Cum Laude with Highest Honors in 2000.  Dr. Pitts was a member of the University’s men’s tennis team from 1996-2000.  He was an integral player on three SEC Championship teams and clinched the deciding match that led his team to victory for the 1999 NCAA National Championship.  He was an Academic All-American in 1998 and 1999.  Upon graduation, Dr. Pitts earned several prestigious honors, including the 2000 UGA Post-Graduate Scholarship awarded to one male and one female senior athlete, the 2000 NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship, and the 2000 SEC H. Boyd McWhorter Scholar Athlete of the Year Award, the highest award an athlete in the Southeastern Conference can receive.

Dr. Pitts earned his DMD from The Medical College of Georgia, School of Dentistry in 2004.  He is a member of the Omega Kappa Upsilon Honor Society.  After graduating in the top of his class, Dr. Pitts returned home to Smyrna, GA and joined the dental practice established by his father in 1971.  Dr. Pitts has completed several advanced continuing education programs, including the MCG/AAID Maxi-Course in 2009.  Dr. Pitts is passionate about dentistry, spending time with his wife and young daughter, reading for education and pleasure, and UGA sports.
